Community Health Promoters

Community Health Promoters

Community health facilitators are trained healthcare workers who work in communities to promote health and well-being. Their primary goal is to empower communities to take charge of their own health and improve their overall quality of life through creating awareness, providing non-technical advisory services, and collecting quantitative/qualitative data on the communities they serve.

Their primary roles are to:

  • Identify health needs: Assess the health needs of the communities in which they work.
  • Educate and raise awareness: Educate community members on health issues and preventative healthcare methods to promote lifestyles.
  • Provide basic health services: Provide basic health services (first aid, health screening, midwifery services and immunizations.
Nutritional Support Program

Nutrition Support Programme

NSP provides targeted nutritional assistance to vulnerable individuals and families within our catchment area. Its primary objectives are to improve the nutritional status of vulnerable communities, and (b) create awareness of nutrition and communal nutritional self-sufficiency. Key activities include:

  1. Nutritional assessments: Using National, County and Field data to map nutritional deficits with the Foundation’s operation area.
  2. Nutrition education: Impart knowledge on nutrition (through Community Health Facilitators) from the contextual viewpoint of ASAL communities.
  3. Food distribution: Distribution of fortified foods, supplements, or ready-to-use therapeutic foods (RUTFs).
  4. Monitoring and evaluation: Tracking performance of the NSP program to inform and improve future interventions.

NSP aims to prevent malnutrition and associated health problems (stunting, wasting, and micronutrient deficiencies) and improve the overall health and well-being of vulnerable populations in North Eastern Kenya.
